Vidya Balan Honours MS Subbulakshmi By Recreating Her Renowned Style In A Photo Tribute

In a recent shoot, Vidya Balan honoured the legendary carnatic singer, Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi through a visual shoot where the actor donned the traditional attire of the music legend.

For the tribute on her 108th birth anniversary, the actor collaborated with costume designer, Anu Parthasarathy, and re-created the singer’s iconic looks.

M.S. Subbulakshmi was the first musician to be awarded the Bharat Ratna as well as the first Indian musician to be awarded the Ramon Magsaysay award.

In her video, Vidya Balan styled four of the singer’s sarees and styled her looks with traditional accessories, including kumkumam, nose pins, jasmine and kondai.

The actor mentioned in the caption how M.S. Subbulakshmi was dubbed the ‘Queen Of Music’ by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the ‘Nightingale Of India’ by Sarojini Naidu.
