The first phase of the Ayodhya airport has been developed at a cost of over Rs 1,450 crore. The terminal building has an area of 6,500 square metres and can serve around 10 lakh flyers annually.

The airport will improve connectivity in the region, leading to a boost in tourism, business activities and employment opportunities, according to a release issued by the Prime Minister's Office.

As per the central aviation body, the airport has a 2,200 metres long runway, and is suitable for day & night operations as well as during low-visibility conditions of more than 550 metres.

The facade of the terminal building depicts the temple architecture of Shri Ram Mandir, while its interiors are decorated with local art, paintings and murals depicting the life of Lord Ram.

The terminal building of airport is also equipped with sustainability features including insulated-roofing, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountains, water and sewage treatment plants.
