32-Yr-Old Indian from Andhra Pradesh Killed During Firing at Grocery Store in US
A 32-year-old Indian Dasari Gopikrishna was allegedly shot dead during a firing that occurred at a grocery store in Arkansas in the US on June 21.
Arkansas: A 32-year-old Indian Dasari Gopikrishna was allegedly shot dead during a firing that occurred at a grocery store in Arkansas in the US on June 21. A shooter opened fire inside a grocery store 'Mad Butcher' - where Gopikrishna was working - and in a parking area leaving four dead and several injured.
Gopalkrishna sustained severe injuries as he was stationed at the billing counter. Soon he was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was declared dead the following day. The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey from New Edinburg.
Indian Embassy in Houston Expresses Grief
Amid the incident, the Indian embassy in Houston on X expressed grief on the robbery shooting incident..
"Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic demise of Indian National Mr. Gopi Krishna Dasari, in a robbery shooting incident at Pleasant Grove, Dallas, Tx. We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased. @cgihou is in touch with local family member & extending all possible assistance including through Indian Associations. @MEAIndia @IndianEmbassyUS @diaspora_india."
Chandrababu Naidu Condoles Death
Expressing grief over the tragedy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu offered condolences by taking to X. In a post, he wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn that a young Dasari Gopikrishna from Bapatla has succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Texas, USA. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them that the GoAP will extend every possible support to help bring him home. We firmly stand by the family and pray for them to find strength through this difficult time.”
A resident of Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh, Gopalkrishna who had arrived in the US barely eight months ago, is survived by a son and wife.
