An airstrike by the Israeli forces on November 12, killed the head of the Palestinian extremist group, Islamic Jihad, Bahaa Abu al-Ata that ultimately resulted in the firing of 150 rockets in the direction of Israel by fighters in Gaza. In retaliation, Israel carried out a series of attacks on Gaza, killing 10 Palestinians.
A conflict dating back to 1948
The Israel-Palestine conflict can be traced back to 1948 with the creation of Israel in the same year. This conflict came into existence due to intercommunal violence in Palestine that blew out of proportion and escalated into full-blown tension in the 1947-1948 civil war.
On September 8, Hamas' posts were attacked by the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) after an Israeli defence vehicle was attacked by a drone that was launched from the Gaza strip.
The birth of a militant organisation
The Hamas is a militant organisation that primarily operates from the Gaza district but also has its presence in Judea and Samaria. It was headed by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin until he was arrested in the month of May in 1989. The militant organisation has had a major role in fanatical subversions complimented by violence and fundamental terrorist attacks that included both Israelis and Arabs. They have deployed their own soldiers to carry out their work.
