Qantas 'Flight to nowhere' departs Sydney

One hundred and fifty eager passengers boarded a Qantas "flight to nowhere" on Saturday from Sydney. The flight took off at 10:45 a.m. (2345 GMT Friday). The Australian flag carrier announced last month that it would operate a special seven-hour scenic flight across the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.

The plane used for the flight was "Emily," a Boeing 787 Dreamliner normally reserved for international journeys. The flight sold out within 10 minutes of going on sale.

The 150 seats were sold at a rate of 787 Australian dollars ($570) for economy seats, 1787 Australian dollars ($1295) for premium and 3787 Australian dollars ($2740) for business class seats.
