Baghdadi's wife captured by Turkish forces: President Erdogan

President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on November 6 that the Turkish military has captured one of the wives of ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who was killed in a raid by the United States. During his address at Ankara University, the Turkish President revealed that they had captured Baghdadi's wife. He further said that Turkey is unlike the United States which made a 'campaign' of their raid while Turkish forces did not make a 'fuss' about their captures. On November 4, it was disclosed by a senior official to an international news agency that Baghdadi's sister, Rasmiya Awad was captured by the forces in Syrian town, Azaz. The special US forces had raided a compound in northwestern Syria on October 27 and killed al-Baghdadi.

Turkey determined to fight ISIS: Fahrettin Altun

Communications director of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Fahrettin Altun called the capture an indication of Turkey's determination to fight against ISIS. He alleged that there had been a lot of propaganda against Turkey which raised doubts on its motive. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi led ISIS declaring himself "caliph" of all Muslims and controlled huge areas of Iraq and Syria from 2014-2017 until US and Iraqi forces along with Syrian Kurds fought back. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's sister, Rasmiya Awad was reportedly captured by Turkish forces in the northern Syrian town of Azaz. The Turkish forces are now interrogating her husband and daughter-in-law who have also been detained with her. Three of them were caught in a raid near Azaz, a Turkish-controlled Syrian town near the border, he added. No more details are available about her as of now. In fact, there are doubts about whether she is Baghdadi's real sister or not. The investigators have reportedly started interrogation with Awad, her husband, and her daughter-in-law who were also detained on November 4.

DNA tests confirm Baghdadi's death 

The Syrian Kurds reportedly got hold of the ISIS terrorist leader's clothing via an undercover agent with the intent to identify him. Reports suggest that this spy was placed in the inner circle of Baghdadi. It is this spy who led the US troops to the ISIS’s 'caliph'.  As per the US President Donald Trump, the ISIS chief died "after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering, crying, and screaming all the way” before detonating a suicide vest.  The US Central Command in a tweet quoted Gen Grank McKenzie CDR USCENTCOM, “After Baghdadi's murder-suicide, our assault force cleared significant debris from the tunnel and secured Baghdadi's remains for DNA identity confirmation.
