Belarus leader warns strikers they won't get paid

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Friday that strikes called in the wake of last weekend's election would deepen the damage inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic and could lead to Belarus losing its niche in global markets amid intense competition.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Friday that strikes called in the wake of last weekend's election would deepen the damage inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic and could lead to Belarus losing its niche in global markets amid intense competition.

T he Belarusian leader warned that those who went on strike might not get paid.

"People must to be told that they have the only chance to save their enterprise that feeds them, only saving their factory, they will feed their families. They can take to the streets, there are thousands of them walking, and they can join and take to the streets, but there is no money," he said.
