China said on Friday a bill on its Xinjiang region passed by the US House of Representatives this week "arbitrarily discredit China's anti-terrorism and de-radicalisation measures, and seriously interfere in China's internal affairs".
The House passed a bill that would punish top Chinese officials for detaining Muslims in Xinjiang.
"The Xinjiang-related issue is not at all a question of human rights and national religion, but an issue of anti-terrorism and anti-separatism", said Zhao Lijian, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
China also rejected US President Donald Trump's offer to mediate between China and India on the border standoff.
Zhao said the border was stable and controllable and "there's no need for third-party intervention".
He also urged Canada to immediately release Meng Wanzhou, a former senior executive at Huawei, in response to the decision of a Canadian court on her extradition case.
