China on Tuesday suggested the decision on whether or not to restrict Huawei from the U.K. market would serve as a "barometer" of the safety of Chinese investment in the country.
The British government is reportedly poised to backtrack on plans to give Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei a limited role in the U.K.‘s new high-speed mobile phone network, a decision with broad implications for relations between the two countries.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for China's foreign ministry, also commented on Japan's defence white paper and U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
