Colombia now requiring COVID-19 vaccination proof

Thousands of businesses in the Colombian capital Bogota on Tuesday began to require a COVID-19 vaccination certificate, with the government aiming to immunize all people against the virus.

The measure is mandatory for those over 18 in bars, restaurants, theatres, sport stadiums, and all recreative spaces.

Starting November 30, it will also apply for those over 12 years of age.

Colombia has fully vaccinated 44% of its population, with 66% having received only one dose.

Only 6.4% of minors have been fully vaccinated across Colombia, but the figures are significantly higher in Bogota.

While a part of the population has declined to take the vaccine, authorities have reported a slight increase in vaccinations in recent weeks among the youngest target population.
