Diwali 2019: Dubai DCD organises Diwali celebrations at Capital Park
With Diwali celebrations happening all over the world, the Indian community of the UAE also participated in the Diwali function organised at the Capital Park

With multiple countries celebrating the joyous and auspicious festival of Diwali, the Indian community across the United Arab Emirates including Dubai celebrated the Diwali festivities very joyously. The official Twitter handle of Doordarshan shared a video of the Diwali celebrations organised by the Department of Community Development (DCD) of Dubai. The Diwali celebrations at the Capital Park by the DCD also had a luminous Diwali-themed bazaar.

Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern region also shared the video of the event which was organised by Dubai tourism along with the Indian Consulate in Dubai. The laser show was displayed on the musical fountains and special fireworks. Indians in UAE also posted pictures of the Dubai markets which displayed all the necessary items for Diwali decorations, including our idols. The Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah also wished all the Indians in UAE a 'Happy Diwali' and also called it a 'truly joyful festival'. During the Diwali celebrations on October 24, The Dubai police band also played the Indian national anthem.

Jail and fine for anyone selling firecrackers in Dubai during Diwali
In an initiative to cut down the illegal sale of fireworks in Dubai, anyone selling firecrackers in the city during Diwali will be jailed up to three months or fined, according to a media report. The amount of the fine has been fixed at Dh 5,000 (USD 1,361), the Khaleej Times reported. Over the last few years, Dubai Municipality inspectors have been cracking down on the illegal sale of fireworks during the festival.
