In a mass evacuation operation carried out by the French Police, the makeshift migrant camps in the northeast Paris have been dismantled. Didier Lallement, one of the Paris police officials, informed that on November 7 approximately 1,606 people were displaced from the migrant camps and after the clearing operation, there are no illegal occupants on the site.
600 police officers were deployed
The officials reported that more than 600 police officers were deployed to undertake the operation and all the makeshift tents were set on fire which was present in various areas under the suburban highways. Lallement said that the police will stay deployed in the area to restrict more migrants from coming back. This is being considered as the biggest such operation after the France government decided to rein in immigration.
Migrant families will be provided with new places
The decision was taken after the French Government listed several ways to curb immigration. The camps mostly include migrants from various families from Afghanistan and sub-Saharan Africa. However, Christophe Castaner who is the Interior Minister said that the government will take care of the interests of the migrants and 16,000 locations will be provided to the migrants in three migrant centers to avoid migrants from settling in new places. According to the reports of Le Figaro, each and every individual will be provided with support. The ones who have received approval will be provided with asylums and those denied will be deported back to their mainland.
France struggles with migration problem
Most of the European Countries have instituted strict immigration and migrant policies to ensure that law and order are maintained. However, France continues to witness an influx and is one of the countries still struggling to come to terms with the situation. It is also a political matter with the far-right National Rally using it to exert pressure.
