French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday said the US and Europe have to act fast to get vaccines to developing countries.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday said the US and Europe have to act fast to get vaccines to developing countries.
Speaking virtually to the Munich Security Conference, Macron said Europeans and Americans should deliver 13 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the African continent "as fast as possible".
"It is worth our credibility", he explained, adding that if Western vaccines were not delivered quickly, African countries would use Russian or Chinese vaccines instead.
And, the power of the West, of the Europeans or the Americans will be a concept but not be a reality", he added.
Macron also said Europe should take a bigger and more aggressive role in defending itself as the United States increasingly look to Asia, starting by its investments in NATO bugdet.
