Washington: As the Republican candidate Donald Trump marked his second-term victory, he was joined on stage by family members during his speech, including a woman dressed in all black—Lara Trump. The wife of Eric Trump, the president's third son, Lara is recognized for her poised demeanor and striking appearance. She has become a notable figure alongside her father-in-law. On stage, she stood to Trump's right, wearing an elegant black sheer outfit with shoulder pads and fur-like accents on the sleeves.
This wasn't the first time Lara Trump chose black for any such big occasion. Soon after the assassination attempt on President Trump in July, she wore a sleeveless black satin top when delivering her keynote address to conclude the second day of the Republican National Convention.
From her career accomplishments to her role in the Trump family, here’s everything you need to know about Lara Trump, a woman who has made a name for herself in politics and beyond.
Lara Lea Yunaska was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and is currently the co-chair of the Republican National Committee. She met Eric Trump, the son of Donald Trump, in 2008, and the two began dating soon after. After six years together, Lara and Eric were married in 2014 at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The couple has two children together.
Lara Trump has become a key figure within the Trump family, consistently standing by her father-in-law even when he faced criticism for his perceived lack of outreach to female voters. While Melania and Ivanka Trump were not present at a key "Women for Trump" rally, Lara took the lead, actively campaigning and rallying support for Donald Trump among female voters.
Her early career
Before stepping into the political arena, Lara Trump had a successful career in media. She worked as a producer and host for Trump Productions' *Real News Update* and later produced segments for *Inside Edition*. In 2021, she joined Fox News as a contributor. However, in December 2022, she and the network parted ways when Trump announced his bid for re-election. During Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020, Lara played a key role, helping to mobilize support and deliver key messages, establishing herself as a powerful figure in the campaign.
In her personal life, Lara Trump has pursued a career in music. In 2023, she released a cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down," which made an impressive debut, reaching #10 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart and #6 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. Lara began producing her own original music in 2024. However, her musical career has not been without controversy. Critics have questioned her talent, with some accusing her of relying heavily on autotune in her songs and questioning her abilities as a singer.
