Beekeepers protested in front of the German Agricultural Ministry in Berlin on Wednesday over the use of the chemical glyphosate in agriculture, which they claim is contaminating their honey.

The Seusing family of beekeepers from Brandenburg said they had four tons of unusable honey because it had been contaminated with glyphosate.

Their honey was 152 times over the accepted limited of the chemical for human consumption.

The family business, which has been running for 11 years, is about to be declared bankrupt.

How the contaminated honey will be disposed of is still unclear.

More than 40 beekeepers campaigned in front of the Agricultural Ministry for better protection for bees and the beekeeping industry in Germany.
