Anna Traber, a high-wire artist married Sven Lier in the air of her hometown, Breisach on September 14. The couple performed their wedding ceremonies on a tightrope above the market place of the town. The 33-year old's father, Johann Traber, drove the couple on a motorcycle over the tightrope. The wedding pictures were posted by a local media agency, on Wednesday and caught the eyes of netizens. People were amazed to see the thrilling pictures.
Wedding on a rope
The wedding ceremony was performed in the air, with a venue decorated with lights. The couple and the registrar slowly travelled across the tight rope. According to global media, Traber believes that every marriage is a tightrope walk and for their unison, a tightrope would be the appropriate starting point and also a good omen. The groom Sven Lier does not come from a family of artists, unlike the bride. Evidently, the registrar, Oliver Rein was also the mayor of Breisach. Rein also crossed the distance, up in the air and rode the motorbike to perform the wedding on top of the market square. The roots of the Traber family lie in the hearts of the small town, Breisach in Baden-Wurttemberg. Since the 16th Century, the bride's family has been contributing to various forms of art and the bride specializes in high rope artistry.
World's first Tight Rope Wedding?
The earliest known wedding to happen on a tight rope was way back in the 1950s. As it is deemed 'dangerous', this practice is not common. However, some couples choose to have a few stunts on the day that is denoted to be the 'most memorable day'. A wedding video was filmed in Toulouse, France where the bridal couple married on a tight rope. There was no net, and the vicar climbs up with a fireman's ladder. The exact date of the ceremony is still unknown. While the people still wonder, why would anyone do such a wedding, however, others think it's a great way to make the wedding unforgettable.
