A World Health Organization spokesperson on Monday said 90% of the world's coronavirus vaccinations administered so far have been in high-income countries.
Margaret Harris told Sky News more than 40 million shots had now been given out, but only two countries which could be classed as lower or lower middle-income had started their vaccination programs.
Harris said it was in everyone's interest to get people all over the world vaccinated as soon as possible.
"This pandemic will continue to burn unless we do it at the same time around the world," she said.
