Shortly after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a selfie with Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the well-talked-about hashtag, the selfie and the hashtag started trending on X, formally known as Twitter. The selfie was clicked when the two world leaders met each other at the COP28 Climate Summit which was held in Dubai. On Friday, PM Modi made a touchdown in the United Arab Emirates to take part in the event.
Apart from giving multiple thought-provoking speeches, Prime Minister Modi held talks with several world leaders including the Italian premier. The camaraderie between the Prime Ministers is well talked about all around the world, especially on the internet. Before Meloni shared the selfie with the hashtag, many netizens fondly referred to the dynamic duo as ‘Melodi’. “Good friends at COP28 #Melodi,” the Italian premier wrote across all her social media profiles, making it trend instantly.

After the Italian premier posted the selfie on X, many internet users started making video edits comprising the two leaders. Some even called it a ‘victory for the meme community’. ‘The meme community claims the decisive victory,’’ a user commented on the tweet.
While some said that is good to see the fun side of world leaders, others contemplated if this tweet can become the most liked tweet on the internet. “Will it become the most liked tweet ever?” a user asked. Overall, Meloni’s selfie with PM Modi has managed to garner over 18 million views and 250k likes on X.
