Swedish activist Greta Thunberg’s speech at the United Nations on climate change was turned into a death metal version which garnered 3.8 mn views on YouTube
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg’s speech at the United Nations on climate change was turned into a death metal version. The video has garnered more than 3.5 million views on YouTube at the time of this publication. The creator of the video, John Mollusk, said the video and the lyrics were inspired from Greta Thunberg's speech at the UNGA. John reported to a foreign media that the lyrics only contained her speech and nothing else. Pakistan-Canadian author Ali Amjad Rizvi shared the video on Twitter, saying, “Greta Thunberg’s speech as Swedish death metal is the coolest thing you’ll see today”.
'I will be doing death metal only'
The 16-year-old climate activist also shared the video on her Twitter and Facebook pages with a funny caption accompanying it.
In a powerful speech delivered at the climate action summit, Thunberg had said, “How dare you think that this can be sold as business as usual and some technical solutions.” Thunberg also said at the summit, which was attended by major World leaders, that young people have started to understand the betrayal.
"You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal, the eyes of all the future generations are upon you and if you choose to fail us, I say we will never forgive you, we will not let you get away with this, right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up and change is coming. Whether you like it or not," she said.
'Close the internet'
The death metal version went viral on the internet after it was shared by Thunberg. “That's it boys. Close the internet because this is the best thing I'll ever see on it,” commented a user. “this is exactly what internet was invented for,” wrote another user. Thunberg's tweet sharing the video has been retweeted more than 58,000 times.
Thunberg continues to protest
Since the UN climate action summit, Thunberg has continued her protest against climate change and global warming. She led a protest march in Montreal, Canada on September 28, after meeting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. But later, at a news conference, Thunberg said Trudeau was not doing enough to curb greenhouse gases. "My message to all the politicians around the world is the same. Just listen and act on the current best available science," she said.
