'I Am Supposed To Be Dead...': Donald Trump Revisits Horrific Assassination Attempt

A day after the assassination attempt, Donald Trump recalled the horrific accident and said in an interview, "I am supposed to be dead."

Pennsylvania: Donald Trump recalled the horrific attack on him, on Saturday morning, during his rally in Pennsylvania and said that ‘he was supposed to be dead’. 

An assassination attempt was made on the former US President and a bullet grazed his ear; however, in the attack, one member of the audience was killed and two others were injured.

‘I Am Supposed To Be Dead…’: Donald Trump

In an interview with a leading daily while travelling to Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, Donald Trump revisited the horrific experience and said, “I'm not supposed to be here, I'm supposed to be dead.”

The Republican Presidential candidate had a white bandage on his ear and he called the incident a very ‘surreal experience’. 

He further said, “By luck or by God, many people are saying it's by God I'm still here.”

Trump On His Photo With A Defiant Fist After The Attack

Reacting to how the photograph of him after the attack, with a defiant fist went viral, Trump said that the photo is iconic and he agrees with the people who say its the ‘most iconic photo they’ve ever seen'. 

Trump said, "They're right and I didn't die. Usually you have to die to have an iconic picture."

‘They Did A Fantastic Job’: Trump On Secret Service Killing The Shooter

Donald Trump was all praises for the Secret Service, who acted promptly and also shot down the shooter who made the assassination attempt. 

He said, "They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a fantastic job. It's surreal for all of us."

Trump Changes Speech After Attack

On changing his speech after the assassination bid, Trump said that he had “prepared an extremely tough speech” about “Biden’s administration but then I threw it away” for one he hopes will “unite our country”.

“But I don't know if that's possible. People are very divided”, he added.
