Lam aims to make Hong Kong, Shenzhen dual growth engines

Hong Kong's Chief Executive on Tuesday appeared to downplay fears that the territory would lose its competitive edge in the face of Chinese development of a neighbouring city.Carrie Lam stated she aimed to make Hong Kong develop in sync with Shenzhen, saying they would be "dual growth engines" for the Greater Bay Area.

Chinese President Xi Jingping earlier said Shenzhen was as an important "engine" in the region, fuelling concern that Hong Kong was being overtaken by the neighbouring city."I am now aiming that both Hong Kong and Shenzhen will become a dual engine for growth in the Greater Bay Area, and of course in the whole of China," Lam said.
