Lebanon: Man killed amidst new wave of protests after President's interview

A protester has been killed during the new wave of demonstrations that have started in Lebanon after the interview of President Michel Aoun who said on November 12 that Lebanon faced a catastrophe if protesters did not go home. The man, who was also the member of the political party led by Walid Jumblatt, was shot after a squabble with Lebanese soldiers in Khaldeh, south of Beirut. The Lebanon protests are first of its kind hand to have already lasted for nearly four weeks putting the country in political as well as the economic crisis.
Army attempts to disperse the protesters
As per reports, in a statement, that an army soldier had opened fire to disperse the demonstrators who blocked the roads in Khaldeh. The soldier ended up wounding a demonstrator who later died in hospital. The soldier who fired the shot has been detained and the entire situation is currently under investigation. Anger flared among the protesters especially in the Cola district near Beirut where dozens of men threw stones at the forces and their tank. Lebanon is also suffering from the worst economic crisis since the 1975-90 civil war after the eruption of protests on October 17.
No Breakthrough in talks
In the interview, President Aoun directed towards no breakthrough in the talks of forming a new government in Lebanon to replace the coalition cabinet of Saad-al-Hariri who quit on October 29. President Aun also said that PM Hariri is hesitant about being the Prime Minister again. Furthermore, the Lebanese President also said that a purely technocratic government which is demonstrators' demand, will not be able to govern the country therefore, it is essential to include some politicians. President Aoun also directly cautioned the protesters saying if the continue the violence in a similar way, they will strike down the country along with their own interests.
