Iran FM Javad Zarif visits memorial for Soleimani in Baghdad

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday visited a memorial to prominent Iranian General Qassem Soleimani at the site near Baghdad airport where he was killed in a US airstrike.

Iranian state TV showed video of Zarif, who is on an official visit to Iraq, at the site alongside Iranian and Iraqi officials.

Soleimani was the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps' elite Quds Force and mastermind of its regional security strategy.

The mural also depicts Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), was killed in the same strike in January.
