North Korean parliament meets in Pyongyang

North Korean state media on Wednesday released video of the country's second parliament meeting this year.

The coverage showed the start of the meeting on Tuesday, which took place without leader Kim Jong Un.

Instead, parliament chief Choe Ryong Hae sat in the main seat at the Manusdae Assembly Hall, the regular venue for North Korea's parliament, officially called the Supreme People's Assembly.

The main agenda items are domestic issues, according to the official report from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) – municipal development, education, economic plans, recycling, renaming the national airline's governing body, and as usual, what North Korea always calls an "organizational matter", which usually means hiring and firing, or the shuffling of officials.

For decades, North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly met only once a year, for one day.

In recent years, its meetings have been more frequent, and started to continue for more than one day.
