Pakistan's chief justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Wednesday lamented that Pakistanis were only hearing "depressing" news these days -- on the state of the economy, politics and even from the cricket field.

Addressing a ceremony to highlight the work of model courts in Pakistan, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the reports of the 'national economy in ICU' was not a good news.

"We hear about the economy and we are told that either it is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or it has just come out of the ICU," he said, referring to the serious balance of payments crisis that threatens to cripple Pakistan's economy.

The cash-strapped government of Prime Minister Imran Khan is negotiating with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank for bailout packages worth billions of dollars.

"We see the noise coming out of Parliament and we see that leader of the house as well as the leader of the opposition, they are not even being allowed to speak.

WATCH: Dejected Pakistan Fan Can't Keep Emotions In Check After His Team's Loss To India, Tells Them To Play 'Dangal' As Tears Roll Down His Face

Earlier, the dream of Pakistani fans to witness their country win a World Cup contest against India was shattered into million pieces after India beat Pakistan for a successive 7th time in World Cup history on Sunday. Rohit Sharma's massive 140 off 113, continued by Captain Kohli and K L Rahul's half-century, rode India to a formidable total of 336/5 against Pakistan.

After the match was concluded, the Internet was flooded with videos and pictures of a few Pakistan players indulging themselves into burgers on the eve of the crucial World Cup encounter. As soon as Pakistan crumbled to one of their worst defeats, the Pakistani fans concluded that 'burgers' and 'pizzas' was the main reason for the loss.

A video of a heartbroken Pakistani fan has also emerged on Twitter wherein he is dejected due to the consistently poor performance of his team.
