Sirsa congratulates India and media
"Jagjit Kaur is returning back home. Today, Jagjit Kaur's father and brother met with her at the Governor's residence. Those who kidnapped her have asked for forgiveness and stated that they have no relation henceforth with the girl, returning her to her father and brother. This is a victory of justice-lovers and the citizens. We will continue to fight for all such victims whether they are Sikh or Hindu. This fight will continue till every daughter (who has been kidnapped) has not returned home," said Sirsa.
Punjab CM takes up issue with MHA
Earlier in the day, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh met with Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and raised the issue of abduction and alleged forced conversion of a Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur in Pakistan. "We have strongly related to this. I have publicly reacted to this and asked Pakistan PM that he must immediately look into the matter. Government of India has taken this up with Pakistan," he said after meeting with Amit Shah.
Sikh girl abducted, forced to convert
Previously on Thursday, Sirsa had shared a video of the grieving family telling how 18-year old Jagjit Kaur was allegedly abducted and converted to Islam in Pakistan. Sirsa had appealed to Pakistani Sikhs to seek help from Imran Khan. He also urged PM Narendra Modi and EAM Dr. S Jaishankar to raise this issue. The family has alleged that she was converted by coercion. They said that she was threatened that her brothers and father would be shot if she did not convert to Islam.
"The woman who was abducted yesterday is my sister she was threatened that her brothers and father would be shot if she did not accept Islam," said one of the brothers who identified himself as Manmohan Singh in the video. "I request Imran Khan and Army Chief of Pakistan (Qamar Javed) Bajwa to help us in bringing the girl back so that it does not backfire on them on the Kartarpur and Kashmir issues," he added.
Sirsa calls Pak rescue a lie
Initially, on Saturday, ANI had reported that Kaur had been sent to her parents and that Punjab's Nankana Sahib police had arrested eight people in connection with the case. But this lie was busted by Sirsa who tweeted that the Sikh girl has not yet returned home. He alleged that the victim was shown to her parents from a distance at Governor’s House. He slammed Pakistan for spreading false news in a bid to curb Sikh anger. He said that this was bid by the country to prevent Sikhs from protesting during the International Sikh Convention of Lahore.
