After Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was hospitalised on October 21, his son, Hussain Nawaz, alleged that Sharif might have been poisoned in the custody of anti-graft body. “My father might have been given poison as his platelets were critically low when he was shifted to hospital”, tweeted Hussain Nawaz.
Hospitalised after deteriorating health conditions
Nawaz Sharif was hospitalised after his condition deteriorated citing critically low platelet count. Hussain quoted the tweet of Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician, Dr Adnan Khan, who met Nawaz Sharif for consultation and evaluation. Dr Khan said Sharif was visibly unwell and was suffering from “multiple serious life-threatening health issues of acute nature”. Dr Khan had also shared the blood count report on Twitter and said that Sharif required immediate in-hospital care.

Hussain Nawaz accuses Pakistani government
In a series of tweets, Hussain Nawaz accused the Pakistani government of inhuman treatment of Nawaz Sharif saying his medical cover provided at the Central jail was also withdrawn.
“This is the reason his personal physician Dr Adnan insisted on examining him yet the permission was delayed by a week. These are the test results which led Dr Adnan to call for his immediate hospitalisation albeit to little avail despite that NAB had full knowledge of the facts,” tweeted Hussain.
Hussain said there was no reason for the former Prime Minister to be relocated from Central jail to the headquarters of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He claimed that Sharif was kept in solitary confinement and was “even denied newspapers”.
“It was only after we took to Twitter and the resultant protest outside NAB Headquarters that a team of doctors was called who confirmed Dr Adnan’s findings and hence Nawaz Sharif was hurriedly shifted to the hospital today,” said Hussain.
Nawaz Sharif is serving a seven-year jail time after he was convicted by the accountability court in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case in 2018.
