In recent, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology in Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's Cabinet, Fawad Chaudhry supposedly slapped a senior Pakistani anchor, Sami Ibrahim.

The incident occurred on Friday at a wedding ceremony in Pakistan's Faisalabad following an argument that escalated after the senior anchor alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was whipping a conspiracy to oust their Prime Minister Imran Khan and weaken the Pakistani Army.

Ibrahim accused Chaudhry of being a part of the group conspiring against the Pakistan Prime Minister, according to Pakistani media

However, Chaudhry allegedly accused Ibrahim of blackmailing him when he was the Information Minister in Imran Khan's government.

Ibrahim has registered an FIR against Fawad Chaudhry for slapping him.

The same night, both of them crossed paths wherein following a heated argument the minister slapped him on the face.

Journalists have demanded an action against the Minister over his abusive behavior.

A day back, in a crackdown on TV satire the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) released a new order advising the media channels across the country to not broadcast 'satirical content' that “demean individuals representing various political parties and law enforcement agencies through caricatures, animated characters, photo-shopped images and funny memes”.

While censoring the satirical content, PEMRA hinted that it is because of the public's complaint against such programmes, that they took the step.

The order dated July 12 stated that "PEMRA has been receiving numerous complaints on such content with public sentiment agonized by the trend of demeaning leadership of the country".

Adding that airing such content is in violation of Section 2- (f) of PEMRA Ordinance 2002, and other code of conduct, PEMRA advised all satellite TV channels in the country "to refrain from airing any content which is demeaning, creates hatred against any individual or mocks any personality associated with any political party or law enforcement agency.”
