The micro-blogging website Twitter has once again refused to take action against the fake news peddled by Pakistan. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Pak Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari put out a screengrab of an email sent by Twitter to Arif Alvi stating that no action will be taken against the Pakistan President for the fake news propagated by him on Jammu and Kashmir. The email has been sent in reference to the fake news spread out by Pakistan President Arif Alvi on the micro-blogging platform on August 24 over the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370. Shireen Mazari, in her tweet, brazenly termed the complaint against Pakistan President's fake news "in bad taste and ridiculous".

Twitter refuses to act against Pakistan

The micro-blogging website, in its mail to Pakistan President claimed that it investigated the fake news posted by Arif Alvi and that it could not identify any violation of Twitter Rules or applicable laws. Twitter then refused to take action against the Pakistan President. While Pakistan is continuously trying to instigate fake news on Kashmir, a call for action by Twitter against such handles on its platform has been made by India. Significantly, Republic TV has also time-and-again written to the microblogging website over the matter, calling for Twitter to act against the verified blue-ticked handles among others which are trying to spread fake news on Kashmir issue.

Pakistan peddles fake news

In his tweet, Pakistan President Arif Alvi had posted out a video claiming it to be from Srinagar. Even as the Jammu and Kashmir government has consistently assured of peace in the Valley and other parts of the Union Territory in the wake of abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan has not yet backed down in spreading fake news on social media in the matter. Earlier, Pakistan Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi posted a tweet trying to "show" the world in what he claimed to be a video from the Kashmir valley. However, exposing its fake propaganda, it was soon established that the video was an old video from Haryana from 2017.

BJP hits out at Pakistan

Speaking in the matter, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya called for Twitter to give clarity over its position on fake news. He also lashed out Pakistan for its consistent efforts in interfering in India's personal matters. BJP hit out at the Pakistan President for posting misleading and fake videos over Jammu and Kashmir. Amit Malviya added that India has already made it clear that it is an internal matter of the country. BJP's Amit Malviya also suggested the Twitter users rate down the content against the fake news being spread by Pakistan which targets the internal matter of India.
