As China takes drastic measures to try to stop the spread of a deadly new virus, British citizens are amongst foreign citizens stuck in Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak. Adam Bridgeman lives in Wuhan with his Chinese wife and four-week-old baby.

He said he dares not go to the hospital for check-ups with the infant. Professor Martin Dove was in Wuhan earlier this month and travelled to other parts of China before returning last Wednesday.

Dove works for Queen Mary College London and Wuhan University of Technology. He said the recommended self-isolation sounded "a bit open-ended" and unclear. At least 80 people have died and 2,744 people have fallen ill since the coronavirus was first found in Wuhan.

China cut transportation links to and from the city of Wuhan on 22 January and has since expanded those controls to several nearby cities.
