Bahrain PM condoles demise of Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj

Condoling the recent demise of India's two tall leaders - Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa on Saturday has conveyed his grief. Sharing details about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bahrain, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that PM Modi had arrived in Bahrain. The MEA highlighted that this was the first-ever visit of an Indian PM to Bahrain. PM Modi is currently on a three-nation tour which includes France, UAE and Bahrain.

On his arrival, PM Modi was extended a ceremonial welcome at Al Gudaibiya Palace in Manama in the presence of the Bahrain Prime Minister, as shared by MEA. After that, delegations from both countries led by their respective Prime Ministers held a bilateral meeting where three MoUs were exchanged. These MoUs included a collaboration of ISRO and Bahrain's National Space Science Agency, solar project collaboration and a cultural exchange programme between India and Bahrain, according to MEA. These steps were aimed at intensifying the vibrant bilateral relations.

Former Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj pass away
Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away on Saturday- August 24, 2019, at Delhi's AIIMS hospital after a prolonged illness, bringing an end to an illustrious political career. His passing brings to an end a remarkable political career which witnessed him occupying some of the top-most Cabinet positions. Previously on August 6, Former Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj passed away after having suffered a cardiac arrest in New Delhi. The demise of both leaders was mourned by all political leaders.
PM Modi's three-nation tour
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the 'Order of Zayed', the UAE's highest civilian award in recognition of his pivotal role in building the strategic relationship between the two countries. The award was conferred on Modi by the Abu Dhabi crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. He had arrived in France on the first leg of his three-nation tour on Thursday. Upon arriving in France, PM Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron and held a bilateral meeting with him at the Château de Chantilly. After this, he addressed the Indian diaspora at the UNESCO Headquarters.
