Baloch leader questions Canada for not probing the killing of Baloch activist Karima
A Baloch human rights activist, Karima Baloch was granted asylum in Canada in 2016 and was found dead after having gone missing in Dec 2020 in Toronto.
The President of the Baloch Voice Association (BVA), Munir Mengal has questioned the Canadian authorities after they allegedly failed to investigate the “mysterious” death of a human rights activist, Karima Baloch, on Tuesday, September 26. The President of the BVA has also asked Canadian authorities to publicise the evidence they found in the case.
“To the Canadian government and particularly to the Prime Minister of Canada, we Baloch are looking to your organisation and we are asking you, please do reinvestigate the case of Karima Baloch and whatever facts your organisations, your authorities, your police have. Please publish that and tell us under what circumstances she was killed and who was behind the killing,” said Mengal, reported ANI.
Baloch leader alleges Canada failed to probe activist's death
Blaming Canada for its alleged lenient judicial laws, the BVA President presented a document, which was reportedly given to the Canadian government to seek a response from them about the update in the case. According to Mengal, they have not received any follow-up from the Canadian authorities.
“We submitted a document to the Canadian Embassy and they said that they would contact their government and reply on the matter. Unfortunately, approximately three years passed," noted the BVA President. Further, he highlighted that they saw a statement made by the Canadian police authorities that there had been "no wrongdoing in the case of her death".
Mengal has claimed that his organisation has lots of evidence against the Pakistan security force ISI and alleged that ISI is behind the killing of Baloch-based human rights activists.
Karima Baloch: The human rights activist
Karima Baloch was a Baloch human rights activist and a dissident. She was granted asylum in Canada in 2016. She was found dead after having gone missing in December 2020 in Toronto, reported ANI. According to BVA, there are several such instances where ISI have carried out such killings.
She was attacked on January 25, as per the local news outlet, Balochwarna. Before the remains of Karima could be taken from Karachi to Balochistan, Pakistani authorities allegedly forcibly took Karima's body along with her family from the airport to her hometown.
