The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would embark on a four-day visit to India beginning from Thursday. The Ministry also said that Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will engage in bilateral talks scheduled on October 5. In the statement made by the Ministry of External Affairs, it said, “Apart from a number of agreements that are to be exchanged between the sides during the visit, the two Prime Ministers will also jointly inaugurate three bilateral projects via video link."
'Primary focus on trade and connectivity'
After the parliamentary elections which were held in Bangladesh and India, she will visit India for the first time. Sheikh Hasina would also inaugurate the India Economic Summit and to be the chief guest for the summit organised by the World Economic Forum. The Summit will be held on October 3 and 4. India and Bangladesh relations have strengthened over the past few years progressing towards growth and development. The officials of the Ministry said that both the leaders will consider a better approach to further develop the collaboration between both the countries. The primary focus still remains to be trade and connectivity. The Bangladesh Prime Minister will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind. It is reported that Sheikh Hasina will stay at the Taj Hotel during her visit.
PM Modi and Sheikh Hasina met at UNGA
Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart met at 74th session of the UN General Assembly and got engaged in talks where they both decide restate their stance on a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and violent extremism. Both countries agreed to establish a strong relationship concerning security matters. They decided to build trust and mutual understanding to cultivate the partnership between both nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Sheikh Hasina for the overall economic growth of Bangladesh under her leadership. He also established India’s support to Bangladesh in future endeavours.
