The concerned officials stated that packages were found on all the beaches ranging from the Loire-Atlantique department down to the Landes department. According to reports, police authorities have launched a probe in order to establish the origin of the drugs with officials in the city of Rennes stating that the strain of cocaine found in the packages is pure and harmful.
A public prosecutor in the city of Rennes, Phillipe Astruc, is of the opinion that the drugs came from South America and added that it was a very pure product and asked people to stay away from it as it carried a very high risk of overdose.
The authorities have asked everyone who comes in contact with the drugs, not to touch and directly alert the police. They also added that anyone who is found touching or meddling with the packages will be facing a risk of being awarded a 10-year jail sentence.
