A group of pranksters in Russia recently filmed a video of themselves paying for an Apple iPhone XS, sounds normal? Well, here's a twist. The group of men paid for the phone with a bathtub full of coins. Russian blogger Svyatoslav Kovalenko shared a video on the photo-sharing app, Instagram where he can be seen filling up a bathtub with hundreds of coins. As per reports, Kovalenko put 100,000 Russian roubles in the bathtub, which is equivalent to around USD 1,500 or Rs. 1,08,000.
After filling the 350 kg bathtub, it was carried to an Apple store in a mall in Central Moscow. In a video, the security guards can be seen trying to stop the blogger and his friends from entering the store. After a few scuffles, the group soon managed to carry the coin-filled bathtub into the store.
Here's the video!
However, in a surprising twist of events, the store actually agreed to carry out the transaction using the bizarre mode of payment. Reportedly, it took the store employees around two hours to count all the coins, so that the Russian blogger could purchase a 256 GB model of the iPhone XS.
A picture that surfaced on Facebook, shows an Apple employee trying to complete the task of counting all the coins.
Reportedly, the stunt was pulled off in order to draw attention to people's attitude towards small change in Russia. In the country, stores will often refuse to serve customers if they don't carry exact change.
