A high school football player, Gage Smith, has gone viral for a heartwarming reason as he was witnessed praying along with a player from the opposition team after a game of football between Sherman High School and West Mesquite High School. On November 1, Smith, who plays as safety for the Sherman High School football team, walked up to West Mesquite High School's Ty Jordan, an opponent he played against in a 7 on 7 football format.
A heartwarming gesture
While talking to a local media outlet, Smith said that he was aware of the fact that Jordan was suffering from cancer and added that he had a moment with Ty praying for him, his mother and his family. He further added that when someone is playing a game, they are playing to win it for their respective team but that respect for the opponent team members is always there.
The wife of Sherman High School's football coach, JD Martinez, captured the wonderful moment and shared it with Gage's mother who passed it along to Jordan's family. Jordon's aunt then posted the pictures on Facebook which attracted a lot of attention from other Facebook users. According to reports, the post was shared more than 140000 times before it was made unavailable to the public.
Gage said he was not expecting the incident to garner a lot of attention and was surprised at the result and added that he was doing what he did for Ty, his mother and his family and not for some publicity stunt.
One user managed to find Smith's facebook account and posted a comment wherein the user said that it was a heartwarming and a wonderful gesture by Gage and added that people like him can make a difference in today's world and wished Smith good luck for the future.
Student's thank you note makes football coach emotional
An incident in which a football coach at Charles Elementary School, Richmond, Richard Nelloms, was seen crying as he couldn't hold back his tears after watching a video wherein his student was crying while reading out a letter to him, has gone viral. Since then, the video of such a heartwarming gesture has garnered a lot of attention on social media and has prompted a few reactions from people.
Jayden, who is a first-grade student at the elementary school, just wanted to thank his football coach due to the hard work he had put in throughout the season. In the video, it can be seen that the first-grader is giving a mug to his coach that states “A good coach can change the game.
A great coach can change a life". As soon as Nelloms gets the cup, he hugs Jayden and thanks him for the lovely gesture but then the young kid's mother tells Richard that her son has a small note that he wants to read out to him.
Jayden then took out a small letter and started reading it out to Richard wherein he thanked him for being the greatest coach and helping him love football again. In the letter, he called Nelloms his favorite coach.
