Indian tourist caught on camera for climbing sacred stupa in Bhutan

An Indian biker Abhijit Ratan Hajare was seen standing on the dome of Chorten, a sacred stupa in Bhutan which led to a massive outrage on social media.

An Indian biker Abhijit Ratan Hajare was seen standing on the dome of Chorten, a sacred stupa in Bhutan that led to massive outrage on social media. He got captured on camera climbing the sacred Buddhist structure after which he was detained by Bhutan's police for hurting the religious sentiments of the people. Hajare had been travelling across various parts of Bhutan in a 15-bike convoy led by a Bhutanese national according to 'The Bhutanese'. The controversial incident occurred when the convoy stopped for rest in the Dochula Pass region. There are about 108 stupas built in the region which have high Buddhist religious importance. Hajare has reportedly given a written apology to the police following which he was set free.

Netizens condemn the act

Netizens have condemned the act by the biker and called him out for embarrassing his nation in the world. A Twitter user wrote punish him according to the Bhutanese law as people like these must be taught a lesson. Another user wrote that little research must be done before visiting any foreign country so that any sentiments are not hurt. Another user angrily wrote that such people behave like wild animals in their own country and afterwards they go to other countries to do the same. The user requested Bhutan to punish this man ruthlessly and also said that such people correlate freedom with tolerance for hooliganism.
