Japan: Typhoon Faxai kills 1, leaves over 40 injured in Tokyo region

A strong typhoon blew across the Tokyo region on September 9 leaving one person dead and over 40 injured. Amid high-speed winds and severe downpour, the power supply was suspended and traffic at the peak hours was disrupted. It caused a lot of chaos all over the city as several trains were suspended and most of the flights were cancelled. Evacuation warnings have been issued for thousands of people residing in the region. The Typhoon Faxai, with speed of around 216 km/hour, travelled across Chiba, a northern suburb of Tokyo.
Deadly Faxai kills a woman and injures many others
A woman ageing around 50 years was reportedly killed by the deadly Typhoon Faxai, in the Setagaya Ward of Tokyo as she was blown into a wall due to powerful wind. As many as 40 people were injured in other areas like Chiba, Ibaraki, Shizuoka, Kanagawa. Many houses and buildings were damaged and a lot of people relocated to safer locations.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Faxai arrived at the Pacific late in the morning. It left northeast of Tokyo having high-speed winds still blowing for 143 km/hour with gusts up to 198km/hour. Major train stations and trains were a lot more crowded than they usually are after most trains were not functional. The weather agencies of the country warned of mudslides and flooding due to heavy rainfall.
Typhoon Lingling attacks Korea
A typhoon called Lingling attacked Korea over the weekend, killing five people in North Korea and three in South Korea. It was after this typhoon that Faxai blew across Tokyo. The country is in a recovery mode now after the damages caused by the dangerous Lingling. They are rebuilding electricity systems, salvaging agricultural crops and supplying medicine and other necessities to affected families. South Korea too saw its share of destruction by the typhoon.
