On September 22, police has detained handfuls in Kazakhstan's two biggest cities as they participated in the most recent dissent against China's impact on the Central Asian Republic. Neighboring China is as of now perhaps the biggest financial investor and trade partner. An arrangement to move various Chinese plants and industrial facilities to the previous Soviet republic has been met with opposition from the people.
Anti-China Protest
The most recent rounds of protests were organized by the supporters of Mukhtar Ablyazov, who is a fugitive banker currently living in France. The protests were held on Saturday. Ablyazov is considered most critical of Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Nazarbayev gave his resignation last March in the wake of running the oil-rich country for nearly thirty years, yet holds clearing powers as the head of the security council and the ruling Nur Otan party. Ablyazov’s political movements were seen as radical and extremist by Kazakhstan's authorities. Participation in those activities is a criminal offence. According to the interior ministry, 57 people have been taken into custody and charges may be filed against them.

After the legal procedures are followed, people will be released. International reporters saw several arrests Nur-Sultan and Almaty. People were protesting with banners such as, “Let’s not give way to Chinese expansion” and “The old man is the enemy”, an anti-Nazarbayev slogan. Several people chanted:” Freedom to political prisoners”.
Official figure shows 57 arrests in Almaty and Nur-Sultan at anti-#China protests but this was published a while ago while arrests were still going on. Final figure must be higher. I saw about 30 in Almaty. All quiet now #Kazakhstan https://t.co/acJj6IOxxu
