Kevin Hart, 40, was left with a major back injury after his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda careered off the road and ended up in a ditch last week. According to car experts, Hart's car was lacking safety features including a five-point harness and roll cage, that could have averted many injuries that he suffered in the car accident. 

Hart's car was a souped-up version, a classic two-door muscle car which had 720 horsepower engine. The car had crashed through a fence on Mulholland Highway, Malibu Hills. Hart was reportedly trapped under the crushed roof of the vehicle. Employees at various car customizing shops claimed that if the vehicle would have been equipped with a roll cage, the roof wouldn't have been crushed and a five-point harness would've held Hart in place.

The Accident 

The 40-year-old was a passenger in his car when the driver, friend Jared Black lost control of the car and crashed through the wooden fencing which was about 10 feet off the road and into a ditch. Black's fiance Rebecca Broxterman, the third occupant, was unharmed. It was Broxterman who dialed emergency services to report the accident, claiming that the actor was seriously injured. Hart headed to his home nearby and was later treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Recovery

The Actor-comedian is now recovering. He went through emergency back surgery and was unable to move or talk immediately after the horrific crash. He suffered three fractures and had three sections of his spine fused during his surgery and was expected to need months of rehabilitation to help his recovery. Actor and his long-time friend Tiffany Haddish updated about his health claiming, 

“He's okay. He's doing fine. As far as I know, form the last I heard, he's fine. He's already walking. He's good.”
