Unusual scenes unfolded during the summit meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, as Kim's extensive security detail engaged in a meticulous disinfection process for the chair he sat on.

The now viral video footage released by the Kommersant newspaper shed light on the extraordinary chair disinfection episode. In the video, a North Korean security official, donned in white gloves, can be seen painstakingly wiping down Kim's black chair and spraying an unidentified substance around the area.

The meticulous disinfection extended beyond the chair, with the security personnel meticulously cleaning Kim's hands, legs, and the immediate vicinity of the chair. A Kremlin bodyguard observed the process with a bemused expression.

Adding to the intrigue, another North Korean guard issued an unclear order to the personnel engaged in disinfecting the chair. Kommersant's Kremlin correspondent, Andrei Kolesnikov, noted, "The chair turned out to be the subject of the greatest concern of the North Korean side."

Reportedly, Kim Jong Un's security team, comprised of over 100 individuals, expressed dissatisfaction with the initial chair provided. Subsequently, the Russian side supplied an identical replacement chair, which underwent the same thorough disinfection process.

Kommersant, one of Russia's newspapers, reported, "Then a North Korean employee wiped the chair intended for Kim Jong Un for several minutes without stopping, wearing white gloves: judging by the smell he disinfected it. In the end, it was a matter of life and death for them, but not for their leader."

Summit talks between Kim & Putin

The summit talks between Putin and Kim took place in Russia's Far East region and encompassed discussions on military matters, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and potential Russian support for North Korea's satellite program.

During the summit, Kim Jong Un expressed his confidence in Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine, stating, "I am deeply convinced that the heroic Russian army and people will brilliantly inherit the tradition of victory, confidently demonstrate invaluable dignity and honor on the fronts of the special military operation."

Putin has reportedly accepted an invitation from Kim to visit North Korea.
