Pope Francis calls for renewed push for Syria peace

Pope Francis called Sunday for renewed efforts for peace in Syria, calling on the actors involved and the international community to put aside their own interests and focus on helping the most vulnerable.

Speaking at a Mass in Bari, Francis said innocent civilians and children were paying the price for the conflict.

The pontiff was in Bari to preside the closing of a conference on peace in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

Bishops from the countries overlooking the Mediterranean attended the conference.
