Princess Cruises: Sending resources to Japan ship
Japan on Sunday reported six more cases among 3,700 passengers and crew aboard the quarantined cruise ship Diamond Princess, bringing the number of infections on the vessel to 69.
Japan on Sunday reported six more cases among 3,700 passengers and crew aboard the quarantined cruise ship Diamond Princess, bringing the number of infections on the vessel to 69. The new cases are an American passenger in her 70s and five crew members — four Filipinos and a Ukrainian.
The president of Princess Cruises, Jan Swartz issues a statement from Santa Clarita, California, on Saturday.
"The Japanese government and Princess have both supplied additional resources and more doctors and nurses who have now boarded the ship," Swartz said in a tweeted video statement.
She also acknowledged new protocols for cleaning rooms and providing fresh linens when guests are out of their rooms getting fresh air.
"We understand there are many dimensions of health, including the human need for social connection and keeping your mind active," she said.
On another cruise ship in Hong Kong, the 1,800 passengers and 1,800 crew members of Dream World were released from quarantine after authorities said tests of the crew found no infections.
