Saudi Arabia: 35 foreigners were killed and 4 other passengers suffered injuries when a bus crashed with an HLV(Heavy loaded vehicle) near the city of Medina
35 foreign nationals were reportedly killed and 4 other passengers suffered injuries when a bus crashed with an HLV (Heavy loaded vehicle) near the city of Medina. A representative of the Medina Police stated that the accident took place on October 17. The passengers involved in the bus accident were Arab and Asian pilgrims when the private chartered bus collided, reported a local newsgroup in Saudi Arabia. The passengers who suffered injuries were sent to the Al-Hamna Hospital in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Indian PM offers his condolences
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister posted a tweet on his official Twitter handle where he expressed solidarity with the families of the victims. He added that he was saddened by the accident and offered his condolences to the families of the passengers.
4 British Hajj pilgrims killed in 2018
This accident comes after 4 British Hajj pilgrims were killed and 12 other passengers were injured when their bus hit a fuel tanker while on their way to the holy city of Mecca in 2018. The crash took place near the Saudi Arabian town of Al Khalas. The people who suffered injuries were taken to a hospital in Mecca. According to reports, the 4 people who died was a 70-year-old lady from the town of Blackburn, an old man and a mother and her son who were all from the city of Preston, UK.
6 Brtish nationals killed in 2017
In an incident dating back to 2017, 6 British nationals were killed when their minibus crashed while they were on their way to Medina after offering their prayers in Mecca.
Around 2,300 pilgrims killed
Another incident that came to light was when around 2,300 pilgrims were killed during the annual Hajj pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca.
