After the mythical three-eyed Raven from the Game of Thrones comes the real-life three-eyed snake.

The snake which was spotted by Rangers of Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife in the Arnhem Highway, just out of Darwin in Australia in March. Named 'Monty Python' its pictures have become a rage on the internet. Its pictures which have gone viral were shared by Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife.

The snake was identified as a carpet snake. Experts have said that all three eyes were functioning. It was only three months

They have said that the third eye was natural and was caused due to a deformity owing to a genetic mutation. The one eye was formed owing to a third eye socket in its skull.

The snake died owing to its deformity three weeks after it was found.

Read the detailed post by Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife on Monty Python:

"The three-eyed snake warns The Dry is coming!

Our Rangers found a three-eyed snake on the Arnhem Highway near Humpty Doo just out of Darwin. It was a juvenile, approximately 40cm long.

The snake is peculiar as an x-ray revealed it was not two separate heads forged together, rather it appeared to be one skull with an additional eye socket and three functioning eyes.

It was generally agreed that the eye likely developed very early during the embryonic stage of development. It is extremely unlikely that this is from environmental factors and is almost certainly a natural occurrence as malformed reptiles are relatively common."
