Britain's Prince of Wales met climate activist Greta Thunberg in Davos on Wednesday, after telling world leaders "we simply cannot waste any more time" in the battle to save the planet.

In a keynote address at the World Economic Forum, Charles urged government and business chiefs to help the private sector lead "the world out of the approaching catastrophe".

Speaking to a journalist after meeting Thunberg, he said: "She's remarkable. She represents one of the main reasons why I've been trying to make all this effort all these years because, as I said, I didn't want my grandchildren to accuse me of not doing something about this in time and of course there they are."

The meeting came after the 17-year-old activist clashed with U.S. President Donald Trump, after he said Thunberg should focusing on other continents when it came to pollution.

On Tuesday he described climate activists as “perennial prophets of doom.”

After an announcement that the US plans to join in an initiative to plant 1 trillion trees worldwide, Thunberg commented that while it was a positive move, it was “nowhere near enough.”
