As per reports, on September 23, Pope Francis addressed leaders of different countries via a video at the United Nations Climate Action Summit. In his address, he spoke about how climate change and present environmental conditions posed a serious challenge for the world and there was still a window of opportunity wherein they could take steps to tackle the ongoing problem. Pope Francis asked for the elements of responsibility, honesty, and courage to be incorporated into actions to face one of the most worrying concerns of today's time.

'Challenge of civilisation'

The Pope added that the present situation didn't look good and the earth was suffering due to global warming. But, the world still had time to correct what went wrong. He asked the leaders to not let that opportunity pass by. He further added that they should be determined to help develop the human society to provide for better living conditions for the generations to come.

In his video address, the Pope has also asked for a slow and steady stop to be put against the use of fossil fuels and also said that the present crisis at hand should prod people into thinking about changing their structures based on the models of consumption and production.

This public address of world leaders was in response to the issue of climate change that is being witnessed all around the world and resulting in unwanted consequences but also it was an appeal to implement more economical solutions such as the Paris agreement aimed at ensuring a cleaner economy and reverse the impact caused by the change in our climate.

Greta Thunberg's fight for her future

Meanwhile, a teen activist from Sweden by the name of Greta Thunberg criticized global leaders at the UN youth climate summit on September 23 stating that they had not taken care of the people from her generation by failing to control the greenhouse gas emissions that ended with a question from her side that said: "How dare you?".

She berated the world leaders by telling them that her place at this point of time was in school and not at this stage. Thunberg further added that the leaders had snatched away her dreams with their meaningless promises as human beings were still dying and the world around them is crumbling.

Thunberg ended her speech by saying that everyone was looking down upon the leaders and if they still failed then her generation would never forgive them.
