Video: Georgia police pepper-spray cat said to be aggressive

Body camera video shows police in Georgia joking about shooting a cat that was reportedly acting aggressive and then pepper-spraying the crying creature. Alpharetta police were called to the scene by a security guard who said the cat was chasing customers and employees in a parking lot, WXIA-TV reports.

Video shows the responding officers approaching the cat and exchanging ideas on how to handle it, with one officer quipping that the case may lead some people to call the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The cat is seen running from officers and rubbing itself against the rear of a nearby car before calmly walking toward the officers, who begin to back away.

Officers were attempting to stun the cat while waiting for animal control to respond and remove it from the area, according to a police statement cited by the news station. Police don’t say what happened to the cat, which officers say was nowhere to be found by the time animal control arrived.
