Viral Whatsapp voice note on escaped detainees is fake

Klang police say the voice note that went viral on WhatsApp messenger which claimed that two male detainees have escaped from the police headquarters, is fake.

Klang police say the voice note that went viral on WhatsApp messenger which claimed two male detainees have escaped from the police headquarters of Malaysia's Klang Selatan district is incorrect. The statement by the police Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli of Klang said that the police received a 22-second audio which went viral on the messenger. He said that the audio message said that the duo with one of the prisoners in handcuffs escaped from the police headquarters and fled to Kampung Delek. He denied anything like that happening in the Klang Selatan district.

Police official warns against misuse of social media

Fake news and rumours have been there in the world even before the emergence of social media in day to day life. The Klang Selatan police Chief Assistant Commissioner said that he wants to remind people against musing various social media platforms to spread fake news as it can lead to public nuisance. He also said that there can be action taken against an individual person under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 if the person is found responsible for this action. He also urged those who can provide the police with the right information on the WhatsApp viral audio to call up the Klang Selatan district police headquarters on their phone numbers or approach any nearest police station. The Klang police are investigating the matter and hope to crack the case soon as fake news spread has created a lot of disruption in the public order worldwide.

Klang cops ambush rival gangs meeting

The Klang cops recently in a surprise attack ended a meeting of two rival gangs who gathered together to have a discussion on protection money and extortion. Assistant Commissioner Amar Ramli on it said that the territory control fight between the two gangs was going on and the meeting was to end it. Both the gangs tried to run while the police were attacking but the leaders of both gangs were caught by the police. The gang leaders have been detained and the police have managed to seize weapons and cars that were stolen by the gangs. The Klang police are doing all it takes to keep the city clean from crime.
