WATCH | On day of blasts that rocked Colombo, Anand Mahindra shares goosebumps-inducing video of an elephant in Sri Lanka to state, ‘We will find a way for all of us to live together’

Anger, frustration towards terrorism and helplessness towards the failure to eradicate it were the dominant emotions once again as bomb blasts ripped Colombo on Sunday, killing close to 200 people. And just when you feel that the whole world is in a mess, a moment of resilience and never-say-die spirit makes one believe that ‘we will find a way for all of us to live together’ just like Anand Mahindra recently did. The businessman, known for his interesting take on various issues on Twitter, shared a touching video of an elephant finding his way out of a canal with the help of creative Sri Lankans.

The Chairman of Mahindra Group shared a video from Sri Lanka where an elephant gets stuck and desperately tries to come out, but to no avail. The locals that gather are concerned and call up a rescue team that create a ladder of rope and tyres to help him come out.

The elephant, however, moves into the other direction and then they use firecrackers to bring him back to the spot where they have readied their arrangement. He later comes back, but the ladder can’t take his weight. The team adds logs to make it heavy, but the elephant once again fails and can’t try again because he’s exhausted.

In the end, he makes one final attempt and succeeds, reminding us of the numerous ‘try, try till you succeed’ stories that we have all heard since childhood. 

Mahindra’s tweet seemed to hint at the blasts in Sri Lanka and the battle against terrorism, but hoping to win over it one day, he wrote, ‘... all is not wrong with the world. And that we will find a way for all of us to live together.”

 The businessman also called it 'tragically familiar' the posts of condolences and condemnation of world leaders over the blasts.

 Earlier, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe addressed the media and said 'action will be taken to stop the activity of all extremist groups in the country. Social media would be temporarily banned with 12-hour curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.'

On Sunday, three churches- St Anthony's Church in Colombo, St Sebastian's Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa and three hotels, the Shangrila, the Cinnamon Grand, and the Kingsbury were targeted, killing 185 people and injuring over 400, as per reports. There were two more blasts in Dematagoda and Dehiwala in the day, as per reports.
